Full Description:  SRB Separation

The four strap-on solid-fuel rocket boosters (SRBs) of a heavy space launch vehicle have burned out and are dropping away from the core stages, which will continue on to orbit. The configuration shown is similar to the Russian SL-6 Soyuz-class booster used to launch crews to the Mir space station.
